The Haunted Mansion opened at Disneyland in 1969, and a version opened at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World in 1971. It has been a steady source of park merchandise ever since, and unlike most seasonal lines it sells year round, then picks up every October.
What collectors look for
Haunted Mansion merchandise is built from a small set of recognizable elements, so the name of the exact element in the item title is the best way to tell designs apart:
- The Hitchhiking Ghosts, Madame Leota and the Hatbox Ghost, which are the characters most often given their own pins and plush.
- Doom Buggy designs, taken from the ride vehicle.
